“An Appalachian rock band” seems to be as good of a description as can be found for Luna and the Mountain Jets. This quartet from eastern Kentucky covers a lot of musical ground. They occupy the space between Lucinda Williams and Tom Petty with jangle riffs and acoustic driven stories of rural life. But that is only one side of the equation. Luna morphs into Wanda Jackson and the Mountain Jets become Led Zeppelin for a Rockabilly rave-up. They pay homage to Fleetwood Mac but never stray far from the honesty of Gram Parsons. The Mountain Jets are incredibly versatile and provide exactly what is needed for each song. A night with the band is a musical journey…dress appropriately.
